At Playdays Childcare Centre, we accept children from 18 months - 6 years of age.
Toddler Class
18 months - 30 months
Our Toddler program helps to prepare the child not just for school, but also for life!
This class is composed of three elements: the prepared environment, observation, and guidance. Classes focus on practical life exercises, sensory exploration, and vocabulary enrichment to help children acquire a sense of order.
The Toddler classroom allows children to move easily from large muscle movement areas to fine motor exercises, including pouring, sweeping, dusting, buttoning, zipping, and table setting. A child's inclination for independence is respected by giving them skills to accomplish tasks independently.
This provides opportunities for freedom and exploration in a safe and loving atmosphere. The children learn to take care of themselves and their surroundings and develop skills to communicate with one another. Lessons of grace and courtesy help the children develop respect for themselves, for others, and for the (class) environment.
Children do not need to be toilet-trained to participate, as toilet-training is an integral part of our Toddler program.
Preschool Class
30 months - 6 years of age
When children reach this class, they are ready for a larger group as they develop social skills, language, motor coordination, and perceptual skills. The mixed-age classroom provides social interaction opportunities for the differing maturity and interest levels.
The Primary child refines the language, motor, and perceptual skills absorbed in earlier development. Their experiences are guided by a multi-sensory approach in language, mathematics, geography, art, science and music. Each child will also refine their motor skills, discover reading through phonics, encounter mathematical concepts through concrete materials, and explore geographical relationships and scientific information through manipulating sensorial objects and real-life materials.
